Call it wedding checklist, marriage checklist, wedding planning checklist,
whatever you want to call it, you must have one. Make a list of all the things that will need booking and
organizing, add all contact numbers and keep it in a safe place. This will be your Bible… up to when you’ll be
standing in the church… then the real Bible will take over.
You might want to divide it into “Wedding Ceremony Checklist” and “Wedding Reception
Checklist”. In normal times people usually forget things… imagine under the extreme pressure of your own
wedding. Now even if you’ll do everything by yourself, you will need a friend to be in charge on the wedding
If there is no one around that you can trust this much, I would advise you to get in touch with
a toastmaster; it will be money well spent. On your wedding day you will be very busy getting married and
you will have no time whatsoever to direct people and organize things.
Just think… if something goes wrong, are you going to take out your phone and start making
calls? The Best Man is usually a good person to do this job, but anyone can do it. Make sure this person has
excellent organizational skills. Don’t forget also to have a wedding photography checklist with the list of
photographs you want taken. Now this is not something you give to the photographer, because photographers don’t
know people at your wedding, so once again someone like the best man will manage it.
